Rock

A rock on the side of a path. How did it get there? The rock has been stepped on, kicked, and thrown. Surrounded by tall trees and green leaves, it lies there, on the side of the path, still. The trees sway in the wind, as any trees would, and as the spring rain begins to fall. The trail that runs between the trees becomes wet, naturally.
Soon, the rain slows and the birds begin to chirp, the same birds that had flown South for winter. The rock is kicked, a few times by a walker and then picked up by a little girl. She observes it, notices it is quite dirty and aged, and sets it down. A boy with a large pile of rocks in his backyard throws another onto the trail and it lands right beside the other.
